11-Days South Africa Tour

Day 01 Hong Kong/Johannesburg

Depart Hong Kong for Johannesburg.

Day 02 Johannesburg - Graskop

On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, your local English Speaking Driver/Guide will meet you.
Depart Johannesburg and head in an easterly direction to the Province of Mpumalanga. Travelling along the N4 via Middelburg and Belfast you continue on the R540 via Dullstroom and Lydenburg to Graskop.

Day 03 Panorama Route – Kruger National Park

After breakfast depart Dullstroom and head towards the Panorama Route. Visit the Blyde River Canyon, God¡¦s Window (weather dependent!) and the Bourke¡¦ s Luck Potholes. One of the major highlights of this region is The Blyde River Canyon home to spectacular wildlife, birdlife and plant-life and some of the best views in the country. The Canyon is also the third largest canyon of its kind in the world with magnificent rock formations and waterfalls. The Panorama route is truly an area of breathtaking scenic splendor. It is no wonder that Mpumalanga is known as Paradise Country!
Thereafter make your way to the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Here you are sure to have a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa and the world! Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, this National Park of nearly 2 million hectares is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms and a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies. Enjoy game viewing from your vehicle en route to your restcamp.

Day 04 Kruger National Park

After breakfast depart Skukuza and head towards the south of the Park. Enjoy a full day of game viewing from your vehicle. With any luck you might spot the famous ¡§Big Five¡¨ (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant) - a truly unforgettable experience indeed! In the late afternoon, you will arrive at Berg-en-dal Restcamp.

Optional and at an additional cost: Full day game drive in an open 4x4 vehicle.

For the visit to the Kruger National Park it is recommended that you take Malaria Precautions. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Day 05 Kruger National Park – Johannesburg / Pretoria

After breakfast, depart the Kruger National Park and head back to Johannesburg.

En route to your hotel in Pretoria, enjoy an orientation city tour of this the administrative capital of South Africa. See the Voortrekker Monument and Church Square, which is dominated by the bronze statue of Paul Kruger, as well as the Union Buildings where Nelson Mandela was sworn in as the first President of democratic South Africa in 1994.

Day 06 Johannesburg - Cape Town

After breakfast visit Johannesburg, the biggest metropolis in South Africa, and affectionately called the ¡§city of gold¡¨. It is also regarded as the financial, industrial and cultural giant of South Africa and lies in the heartland of the Gauteng Province. This large city grew from a modest shantytown following the discovery of gold in 1886. This morning you will be taken on a guided tour of Gold Reef City, just south of the city center. During your guided tour you will, amongst others, descend 220m underground and see a bar of?gold being poured. Thereafter you will be transferred to the OR Tambo International Airport for your flight to Cape Town.

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, your new local English Speaking Guide will meet you. En route to your hotel, enjoy an orientation city of this the "Mother City", passing City Hall, Parliament and the Malay Quarter, otherwise known as "Bo-Kaap". Time permitting; take the Cable Car to the summit of Table Mountain (weather permitting, not included in the price) from where the most spectacular views of the Bay and City can be enjoyed. Thereafter transfer to your hotel.

Day 07 Cape Point

After breakfast depart on a full day excursion of the Cape Pensinsula. The drive takes you along the Atlantic Seaboard passing Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay to Hout Bay. Continue via the scenic Chapman¡¦s Peak Drive (should it be open) to the Cape Point Nature Reserve and Cape Point, the most southwesterly point of Africa and where many believe the cold Benguela current on the West coast and the warm Agulhas current on the East coast merge.

Take a scenic trip with the funicular to the old lighthouse. Continue to Simonstown and visit Boulders Beach with its colony of African Penguins. End your day with a visit to the world-renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. They are a celebration of South African flora - showcasing only indigenous South African plants. Fynbos, proteas, cycads and rolling lawns are intermingled with streams and ponds and well-laid out pathways for easy walking. Return to the hotel.

Day 08 Winelands

After breakfast, enjoy a full day tour of the Cape Winelands.
Depart Cape Town and head for Stellenbosch, the heart of South Africa¡¦s wine industry and a place of great beauty and culture steeped in South African tradition. History is reflected in many of its buildings; it¡¦s neo-Dutch, Georgian and modern Victorian architecture, which encompasses simple lines, fine detail and elegant proportions. Visit the town with its Village Museum, and also visit one of the many charming wine estates. Enjoy the opportunity to taste some South African Wine and to learn more about the viticulture of the country.

Thereafter continue to Franschhoek, which has become known as South Africa¡¦s food and wine capital. This is not surprising when eight out of the top 100 restaurants are located in the valley. It lies on the banks of the Berg River against a backdrop of the towering Franschhoek- and Drakenstein Mountains- a dramatic setting indeed for the town and its attendant vineyards. You can taste and buy wine at most of the thirty-seven wine cellars and there are some twelve restaurants attached to wineries. Franschhoek¡¦s charming main street is lined with shops and galleries providing a choice of antiques, arts and crafts.

To end the day visit Paarl, which offers historical charm, culture, architectural heritage, wine and fruit farms and breathtaking scenery. Paarl also boasts a unique attraction in the fact that it is home to the youngest language in the world. The foundations for the Afrikaans language were laid here. The Afrikaans Language Monument on the slopes of the Paarl Mountain and the Afrikaans Language Museum are a living memorial to the achievement. Before returning to Cape Town, enjoy another wine tasting and cellar tour at a well-known wine estate. Return to the hotel.

Day 09 City Tour & Robben Island

After breakfast, make your way to the famous Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, home to refurbished historical buildings, museums, waterfront walks, boat trips, restaurants, craft markets, shops and boutiques as well as The Two Oceans Aquarium.

From the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the Waterfront you will board a ferry (weather permitting) to the historic Robben Island where former President Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. Once there, a guided tour of this infamous Island will give you an insight into the early days of white settlement at the Cape when it was once used as a prison. The so-called 'delinquents' that were brought here, were mainly rebellious Khoikhoi. With very few exceptions, attempted escapes, failed and most of the escapees drowned during the long swim to the coast. In 1961, South Africa's most notorious prison was established on Robben Island. Political prisoners of the anti-apartheid movement were kept here together with hardened criminals. The most prominent inmate was Nelson Mandela, who later became the first President of the new democratic South Africa. Here Mandela spent 27 years of his life in a tiny cell of 5 square meters.

After the guided tour, board the ferry back to the mainland and enjoy time at leisure at the Waterfont. Transfer back to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 10 Capetown - Johannesburg - Hong Kong

You have the day at leisure until your transfer to Cape Town International Airport for your return flight.
Overnight on board.

Day 11 Arrival at Hong Kong
